First of all, I’m really disappointed to miss Earth Hour. I had been looking forward to participting, and talking to the kids about our larger world and the impact we all have…oh well, next year.
Meredith is doing OK. Her nausea/vomiting is gone, but her appetite isn’t quite as good as the doc wants. He thinks it’s being suppressed by the IV fluids, so he’s going to turn it down a bit. She also seems to having a reaction to the steriods, probably because they aren’t diluted enough and are irritating her veins. Her IV arm is swollen and quite painful. She also has some pain in her legs and back, and I’m not sure what to make of that. We are waiting for a call back from the night doctor.
Our current plan is to have one final dose of steriod tonight, and then go to oral steriods tomorrow. If she tolerates that well, we should be home on Monday. Keep your fingers crossed for us.
Meri’s good friend Katie and her parents (our good friends) Ted and Dee came to visit today. Meri was so happy to see them! The kids played Sorry! in the activity room, and it was the happiest I’ve seen her in a week. Then, she got a surprise delivery of balloons and a horse from her friend Callie – she actually squealed in excitement! She loved reading all the letters from her classmates that her teacher gave to us. Our friends and family have been so supportive.
And, my mom…what can we say? She has taken care of Jack, fed all the pets, cleaned the kitchen, vacuumed, folded laundry and still managed to visit Meri with lots of love and cheer. We’d be completely wrecked without her.
I’ll post again tomorrow. Have a nice evening…and, turn your lights off at 8:00. 🙂
