(See the above link for the actual sale page of this item – only $39.95!) It has the screw-off cap at both ends, presumably. But (equally presumably), you’re to use the “PDA stylus” end as a stabbing weapon, should the mood strike. Why do I think so? Well, one thing left conspicuously off the manufacturer’s feature list is the fact that it’s clearly intended to be used as a weapon. They don’t actually say so, in so many words, but this picture pretty much makes that clear – not even my son writes like that anymore.
Now, there are obviously plenty of legitimate uses (not to mention legitimate users) for such a device (self-defense, etc.). But I’ve no doubt whatsoever that there are also at least a handful of extraordinarily bad men who can now bring something far more specifically lethal than a garden-variety box-cutter onto any commercial flight in America, with ease.
Think about that the next time you have to take your shoes off and dump out your 3.5 oz. shampoo at airport security.
Or am I just being cranky? Do you think this would get past security? What do you think?
